Nowadays, scientific and technologic information is the base of pecuniary and spiritual abilities of human-being communities. A community which has access to more information is more capable and searching. With a view to the daily production of a big pile of printed and non-printed information, it is possible to say; inseparable mutual effects of information and research has an important role in the progress of the community. In the meantime, scientists and researchers need a tool or reference for the research in their field of study. One of these tools or sources is the application of an index. Index availability can be introduced in different branches of science. This condition with various geographical range will assist the researchers and users of these sciences to all required information.
Index is a documentary collection with easy and quick access to all information in relation to Geoscience , and is also a guide to access to the greatest results in quickest time. Preparation and compilation of the Venezuelaian Geoscience Index has launched its activities by National Geosciences Database of Venezuela in the beginning of 2005, and to reach to this significant goal has passed different stages.

1.Determination and definition of Geoscience subject domain.
2.Recognition of information centers, libraries, archives, scientific educational institutions and research, including governmental ones or non-governmental.
3.Compilation of the required information such as book, essay, thesis, periodicals, maps and CDs based on an identification card holding titles, authors, keywords, publication location, publisher, publication year, keeping location and information about the number of pages.
4.Equalization of the compiled information and entrance of information to the mentioned identification cards is a useful method for public usage at any location or time.
